Congratulations to Melissa De La Paz of Houston and her husband-to-be, Eugene Smith. Melissa submitted the winning entry in SUNNY's Annual Valentine Wedding!
Melissa and Eugene tied the knot Thursday, Valentine's Day, at home plate in Minute Maid Park! And the whole ceremony was broadcasted LIVE on the SUNNY Morning Show with Dana and Marc.
Here's Melissa's entry:
Wow! This is crazy! But here it goes …
After dating someone for 15 years and realizing it wasn’t going anywhere, I stepped out into the dating world … no luck! Years pass and here I am, the 3rd or 5th wheel to most dinners with friends. Heck, I even tried the online dating thing … UGH! Depressing!
So here it is 2008 and I told myself this is my year and BAM! I meet Mr. Wonderful! My sweets name is Eugene! Love at first sight! We have been inseparable since the night we met, and we knew that moment we were what both hoped we’d always find in a partner. We want to get married!
He has had his unfair share at relationships as well and we both know that all those little bumps in the road were just life’s trials and tribulations so that one day we could meet and share our lives as one.
I HAVE met the man of my dreams! We keep talking about skipping lunch and running to the JP to get married, but your idea sounds so much better. What better way to spend Valentine’s Day! Considering I haven’t had one in 5 years!
One day — actually many days — I was feeling blue thinking, “I’ll never get to find a true love and get married.” A friend told me … ”One day you’ll find someone who will love you more that you love them.” It happened! I love him more than life itself ... somehow he can top that!
So please choose us! We are ready to share our lives as one!
