There was a time, not so long ago, when chores were a part of every kid's daily life. Not anymore.

According to new research out of UCLA, chores and responsibility are only for parents nowadays. The study explains that in the 19th century, children were valued for their help in the family, but today children are "economically useless, but emotionally priceless." This has created a situation where the parent stops behaving like an authority figure and instead becomes a valet for their child.
