Guests: Judy Perkins, former president and co-chair of the college scholarship program for the Houston Junior Forum.
Kimberly Trevino just graduated from A&M University and is headed to medical school.
Stephen Quezada is a lawyer who graduated from the University of Houston.
The Houston Junior Forum gives out scholarships to help people break the cycle of poverty. Kimberly and Stephen are two examples of what the community's help can do, coupled with good parenting. They remind us that no matter what kind of help one can get, the crucial part of growing up, getting the right education and becoming a productive member of society is good parenting.

Guests: Dr. Alex Marquis and Cortney Martin, public relations coordinator for the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.
Dr. Alex Marquis’ daughter, Sydney, was sick with Leukemia. Her cancer is in remission but he shares with us the terror of watching his child fight for her life. She received a bone marrow transplant (her sister was the donor) and the successful outcome was in part made possible by the work of the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center which provides area hospitals with their blood supply. You’ve heard me talk about how donating a pint of your blood literally saves people’s lives before and this is a poignant example of how it works. I think Houstonians can be proud of their generosity and volunteering spirit.

Guest: Kalob Martinez, artistic associate for Classical Theatre Company.
Kalob Martinez joins the program to talk about Classical Theatre Company's new production of "Ubu Roi" by Alfred Jarry. The play runs from January 16th through February 3rd at
Studio 101. Kalob also tells us about his voice-acting career and dubbing Anime
and we discuss the films I saw in theatres last year. We disagreed about The Avengers
and I think he may be right about that one.
