Everyone possesses some sort of creativity. For some people that creative side is a lot larger. People like my friend Natalya who is like a walking piece of art. She is passionately creative; it fills up her whole being. My friend Debbie likes to make beautiful gifts for people when her creative energy starts flowing. She makes beautiful gift baskets and cards and really lovely things to give away to those she loves.

Some people are more focused and structured and don’t exude quite as much flair as Natalya or as much craftiness as Debbie, but I’m convinced everyone has a creative bone in their body whether they know it or not. And I would encourage everyone reading this today to tap into that creative side and show your love in a creative way. You certainly don’t have to put together a big gift basket, but you can bake cookies or write a love note or even wash the car…

The other day my daughter Bridget washed her big sister, Shaylah’s car just because. She was not asked to do it nor was she paid to do it. She simply did it to show her love in the way of a kind gesture. Shaylah of course was thrilled and thought it was the sweetest thing…not to mention her car really needed a good wash. And though Bridget never expects anything in return for her good deeds (that’s just how she is) something tells me Shaylah will be much more willing to give her a ride somewhere next time she needs a lift.

So what are you willing to do? How can you put a little thrill into someone’s heart today? Maybe you know someone who is having a hard time and could use a little pick me up. Tap into that creative bone you have and think of something you’re capable of doing to put a smile on someone’s face. It doesn’t have to be crafty or filled with talent or cost you money; it can be as simple as grabbing a bucket full of suds, a couple of rags and taking a few minutes to wash a car. Hmm…come to think of it…something tells me a special dad in your life may appreciate that kind gesture this weekend. Just a thought!
