Officials in Miami have decided to fire Police Chief Art Acevedo just six months after leaving the same position in Houston.
During is short stormy tenure, Acevedo has been accused by city commissioners of meddling in the police department's internal affairs investigations.

Miami City Manager Art Noriega said Monday that he suspended Acevedo and intended to fire him.
“The relationship between the chief and the organization has become untenable and needed to be resolved promptly,” Noriega said. “Chief Acevedo is not the right fit for this organization.”
Shortly after Acevedo was hired in April, he made waves by taking over internal affairs and making sweeping changes to the command staff. He demoted four high-ranking officers and fired two others. City commissioners called for his ouster during two contentious, hours-long meetings to discuss his decisions and behavior. Noriega said Acevedo had "lost the confidence and trust of the rank-and-file" and the executive staff.
Acevedo began his law enforcement career with the California Highway Patrol in 1986. He then served for more than nine years as the chief of police in Austin. In 2016, he became Houston's police chief and served more than four years before resigning in March.
