Applebee's launches "Buy 1, Provide 1" program for Texas food banks

The Houston Food Bank stands to benefit from another charitable program in addition to Houston Restaurant Weeks in the month of August.

Apple Texas, a franchise partner of Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar with 65 restaurants in Texas, has launched a "Buy 1, Provide 1" campaign. The company donates funds to area Food Banks for one meal for every regular-price entrée ordered at participating Applebee's during August.

Apple Texas owns Applebee's in the Austin, East Texas, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and Waco markets.

"This is a two-for-one in the most charitable and philanthropic way. When a guest buys an entrée in our restaurants, we will provide one meal to a food bank patron in need through our respected Food Bank partnerships every day in August," Chris Dharod, Chief Operating Officer of Apple Texas said in an announcement.

The company is a subsidiary of SSCP Management, owned by Dallas businessman and philanthropist Sunil Dharod.
